Oluwo denies reports on South-West Traditional Rulers Council Secretary position

The Palace of the Oluwo of Iwo has dismissed a viral report alleging that His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, lost out in a contest for the position of Secretary in the South-West Traditional Rulers Council.

In a statement, the palace clarified that no such council exists and insisted that the ancient Oluwo throne would never stoop to contest for such a position. The report, the palace claimed, was fabricated to blackmail the monarch and divert attention from recent statements he made.

“Truth has no alternative. No matter the forces against it, it cannot be suppressed. No one is powerful enough to turn the truth into lies,” the statement read.

Oba Akanbi further stated that he was aware of discussions last year regarding the formation of a Southern Council of Traditional Rulers but declined to participate. He explained that he preferred not to work within a council dominated by individuals with differing mindsets.

He also noted that he rarely attends the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers meetings, as he has chosen a distinct path guided by trust and divine purpose.

“For the umpteenth time, we reiterate that no one can dethrone Oluwo. Those who have tried repeatedly have failed, and they will continue to fail,” the statement added.

The monarch emphasized that he has no interest in engaging with individuals whose aim is to undermine others, stating that blackmail and criticism will not deter him from his chosen path of honor. Instead, he views such attacks as a source of strength.

“Anyone who heeds this warning may be fortunate enough to escape perdition,” the statement concluded.
