Oluwo hails Owa’s intervention on Ilesa-Ibadan road rehabilitation

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Oluwo of Iwo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has commended the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr.) Adesuyi Clement Haastrup Ajimoko III, for his voluntary intervention in the rehabilitation of the Ilesa-Ibadan road.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, Oba Akanbi praised Oba Haastrup for demonstrating the true virtue of a father to the nation, noting that his selfless action portrays kingship as a platform for service without expectation of reward.
“The royal gesture of the Owa has further registered kingship as a position to serve people without expecting anything in return. Through this effort, you have shown the true virtue of a father to the nation, as the road will serve all Nigerians regardless of tribe,” Oluwo stated.
Recalling his own intervention on the Iwo–Osogbo road upon his ascension to the throne in 2016, Oba Akanbi said the road had been abandoned and commuters were forced to use alternative routes to reach Osogbo before he took it upon himself to begin its rehabilitation.
“I resumed work on the road every morning for two months. This enviable standard you are setting will forever be acknowledged. I’m happy you are part of the royal fathers raising the bar of reckoning for the institution,” he said.
Oluwo further described Oba Haastrup as a testimony to pure monarchy, adding that a true king must be accessible and always available to offer support to his people, even when not asked.
He stressed that monarchs should not oppress their subjects to impress them, but should instead live up to their responsibility as fathers and leaders.
The Oluwo urged other traditional rulers to emulate the Owa’s example by dedicating their thrones to meaningful and impactful service.
