Oluwo hails Tinubu at 74, says Nigeria on path of renewal

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a builder and a man of immense value who has laid a renewed foundation of hope for Nigeria and its citizens.

In a birthday message to mark Tinubu’s 74th anniversary, released by the monarch through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, he commended the President for what he described as a bold and aggressive stance against illegalities that had hindered the country’s economic progress.

He said Tinubu’s administration had recorded notable achievements, particularly in stabilising the naira and boosting Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which he noted had risen significantly as of late February/March 2026.

The Oluwo also credited the President with implementing key reforms, including the unification of the exchange rate, increased oil output, and improved foreign investment inflows.

Oba Akanbi further lauded Tinubu for granting local government autonomy, increasing allocations to states, expanding road infrastructure, and improving the distribution of palliatives at the grassroots level.

According to him, previous presidents had attempted similar economic reforms but were overwhelmed by public and political pressures, noting that only a courageous leader could take and sustain such tough decisions.

The traditional ruler reiterated that Tinubu’s policies have laid a foundation of hope, which is beginning to reflect in the standard of living of the masses, adding that the next phase is stability. He also noted that many Nigerians would call for the president to remain in office beyond two terms.

Oba Akanbi prayed for the president’s sound health, divine wisdom, understanding, and strength to advance the vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers.
