The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, on Monday sympathised with the people of Iwo over the passing of the Eketa of Iwoland, Chief Oluremi Atanda.
The Oluwo of Iwo in a statement obtained by WESTERNPOST said “Chief Oluremi Atanda, Eketa of Iwoland, was an academic guru, an asset of merit to Iwoland.
“During his lifetime, he was a patriot and community servant. He served Iwo and Nigeria till his last breath. He was the immediate past President of the Iwo Board of Trustees (IBOT).
“I commiserate with his immediate family and the entire Iwoland. His death will create a vacuum which I’m optimistic will be filled by his children.
“I pray to God to forgive his shortcomings and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Once again, my condolences.
“He was a World renowned Geneticist and Plant Breeder, and served as the World Coordinator of Cocoa Geneticists and Breeders (1975 – 1977). Atanda was a Nigerian agricultural scientist, administrator and holder o Nigeria’s Order of the Federal Republic (OFR).”
