Oluwo receives, drums support for Olupo-elect
…commends kingmakers, Oluponna elders
Paramount ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, on Friday, received the Olupo of Oluponna elect, Oba Rafiu Oyekanmi Mosobalaje, in his palace.
Oluwo commended the kingmakers for the perfect choice, urging them to give the new monarch a free hand to take Oluponna to the promised land.
Oba Akanbi extended his commendation to the Otunba of Oluponna, Chief Julius Akinlabi, Elder Bisi Ogunkale and all Oluponna stakeholders who ensured a round peg in a round hole.
A statement released shortly after the visit by Oluwo through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, reads: “It is my joy to witness today, seeing the appointment of the new Olupo of Oluponna, Oba Rafiu Oyekanmi Mosobalaje.
“He is royale and comported. His words are golden. I can see the hope in traditional institution with someone like him mounting the throne. We need more of him with pure monarchical trust to join the institution and support her survival. We can’t keep doing things the same way and expect different result.
“I specially commend the Kingmakers who made this possible. You are given hope to our culture and traditions to stand the test of time. You are given us power and trust. For giving Yoruba the future, we will make you proud.
“I extend the commendation to the Otunba Julius Akinlabi, the Otunba of Oluponna, and Elder Bisi Ogunkale and all stakeholders of Oluponna. For this you have done, history will continue to be kind to you.
“I’m assuring the Olupo elect of my full support. His trust in pure and unadulterated monarchy will forever endears me. Oluponna will continue to be great. Your reign shall be of blessing and monumental advantages to the land and her people. The crown shall glue to your head for long.”
Accompanied by the kingmakers and Oluponna elders, the Olupo-elect said the visit was aimed at securing the consent and support of Oluwo in respect of the tradition. He equally assured the chiefs, citizens and residents of Oluponna to respect the progressives codes of kings as exemplified in the monarchical conducts.
He promised to respect oneness of God and protect the interest of his people.
