Oluwo urges Iran’s new Supreme Leader Khamenei to embrace peace

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has urged the newly appointed Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, to pursue peace and dialogue in order to end the hardship caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Oba Akanbi made the appeal in a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Monday, noting that embracing dialogue should not be seen as a sign of weakness.

The traditional ruler, while congratulating Khamenei on his emergence as Iran’s Supreme Leader, said he assumed the position at a critical time when tensions in the region remain high.

According to him, the world is currently experiencing deep pain as the Middle East continues to face instability and economic strain.

“The world is groaning in pain. The Middle East is bleeding profusely. The pain of the gruesome assassination of the immediate past Supreme Leader of Iran cannot be forgotten in haste, but there cannot be peace if we refuse to forgive ourselves,” he said.

He added that rising fuel prices and worsening economic conditions are making life difficult for ordinary people.

Oba Akanbi urged the new leader to embrace forgiveness and dialogue to protect innocent citizens from avoidable hardship and suffering.

He also called on the governments of the United States and Israel to support efforts toward a ceasefire, expressing optimism that Khamenei’s leadership would help restore peace and stability to the region.
