Years after featuring for the Super Eagles, midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has hinted at his desire to return to the national team.

Onazi, a member of the 2013 AFCON-winning Super Eagles, said he is not ready to retire and is still committed to his football career.

The 32-year-old industrious midfielder disclosed that he still has much to offer in national team duty.

“I’m still actively playing football at the moment. I’m not retiring yet, and I’m still available for a national team call-up,” declared the former El-Kanemi Warriors player.

Meanwhile, Onazi shed light on his club career, explaining why he is currently without a club after terminating his contract with Avezzano in Turkey.

The Nigerian international has been a journeyman since leaving Turkish Süper Lig outfit Trabzonspor in 2019, having played for eight clubs in five years.

Onazi ended his contract with the Serie D side after spending less than a year at the club, a development that has made him a free agent.

In a chat with Turkish publication Fanatik, the former Lazio star delved into the reasons behind his departure from the club and his current status as a free agent.

He revealed that the club was unable to pay salaries and owed him for eight months, which led to his decision to terminate his contract.
