Ondo ADC leaders call for new executive committee amid hot internal crisis

Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ondo State have demanded the immediate constitution of a new State Executive Committee, faulting the lack of cohesion and unity within the party.

The call was made by a coalition of four major blocs during a press briefing in Akure, the state capital, on Tuesday.

The group proposed Sola Ebiwonjumi as the new chairman to lead the party ahead of the 2027 elections while accusing the current leadership of fostering disunity and neglecting collective decision-making.

Speaking at the briefing, Ebiwonjumi blamed the crisis on the dominant influence of the outgoing chairman, saying efforts at dialogue and power-sharing had been consistently frustrated.

The coalition insisted that the outgoing chairman, Barr. Wole Ademoyegun, had failed to ensure fairness and inclusivity, which they described as essential for the party’s progress.

Part of decisions made at the meeting include plans for a broad-based executive, involving all 18 local government chairmen and ward leaders, to ensure proper representation of all stakeholders across Ondo State.

The coalition, which includes the PDP group, Labour and Obedient Movement, ADC Aborigines, and the Omoluabi Group, said decisions were aimed at rebuilding the ADC on principles of justice, equity, and transparency.
