Ondo APC chieftain urges Aiyedatiwa to reconcile aggrieved aspirants

An Ondo State chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Femi Akinkuebi, has urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to immediately reconcile aggrieved members following the party’s recently concluded primaries, warning that internal divisions could undermine the government’s development agenda and the party’s future in the state.

Akinkuebi, in an open letter addressed to the governor, said the period following the APC primaries presented an opportunity for Aiyedatiwa to unite party stakeholders and concentrate on projects that would leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

According to him, while the primary election naturally produced winners and losers, the governor must ensure that disappointed aspirants and their supporters are not alienated from the administration.

“The aspirants who contested in the primaries are not your enemies. They are your constituency. Their followers are your citizens, and their political structures remain vital to delivering the administration’s agenda across the 18 local government areas of the state,” he said.

Akinkuebi also stressed that Ondo possessed enormous economic potential, including agriculture, coastal resources, forests, bitumen deposits and a youthful population, adding that the state could only maximise these opportunities through political stability and inclusive governance.

He called on the governor to prioritise landmark investments in road infrastructure, healthcare, education, vocational training, agriculture and coastal development, describing such projects as the foundation of a lasting legacy beyond the current administration.

“Pick up the phone. Convene the stakeholders. Sit across the table with aspirants whose experiences during the primaries left them disappointed. Approach them not as rivals but as partners whose knowledge and grassroots networks can strengthen your government,” Akinkuebi appealed.

The APC chieftain further urged Aiyedatiwa to sustain close collaboration with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and maintain a strong relationship with the national leadership of the APC, stressing that a united Ondo chapter would strengthen both the state government and the ruling party at the national level. He added that history would remember leaders who promoted unity and delivered meaningful development rather than the outcome of party primaries.
