Ondo APC leaders kick against “distracting Aiyedatiwa” over re-election suit

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have cautioned against distracting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, urging those behind the ongoing litigation over his alleged second-term ambition to discontinue from the process.

Operating under the platform of the Concerned Grassroots Leaders in Ondo APC, the leaders praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for what they described as “visible infrastructural development across the state’s 18 Local Government Areas.”

Their position followed last week’s ruling by the Federal High Court in Akure regarding the restriction on the governor from running for a second term.

Reacting earlier to the court action, Aiyedatiwa said he was surprised by the suit, maintaining that he had never publicly declared an intention to seek re-election.

Speaking with journalists in Akure on Monday, the convener of the group, Babajide Akinwolere, noted that the governor had demonstrated stability and commitment in managing the affairs of the state and should not be distracted by what he termed “needless legal battles”.

Akinwolere said the administration had prioritised the welfare of residents while ensuring that development projects were spread across various communities.

According to him, the government has continued with several ongoing infrastructure projects while initiating new ones designed to improve transportation, stimulate economic activities, and strengthen connectivity across the state.

He added that the administration had also maintained focus on improving education, enhancing healthcare delivery, empowering youths, and supporting small and medium-scale enterprises.
