Ondo assembly approves indefinite extension of Akeredolu’s medical leave

The Ondo State House of Assembly has approved the extension of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s medical leave.
The approval was given on Monday after the governor wrote to the assembly to extend his medical leave which started on June 6.
The new leave was for an indefinite period, with no resumption date set for the governor.
The decision to extend the leave was based on the advice of the Governor’s doctor, emphasizing the importance of allowing him sufficient rest after his recovery.
Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji stated that Governor Akeredolu submitted a letter requesting the extension in accordance with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
In the letter, Governor Akeredolu specified that his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would continue to act as Governor until a written declaration indicating otherwise is made.
The Speaker expressed gratitude to God for the Governor’s speedy recovery and remained optimistic that he would soon resume his official duties.
Governor Akeredolu had previously commenced his medical leave last month and had announced his intention to return to his duties on July 7.
