Ondo Assembly confirms 15 commissioner-nominees, defers one

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Ondo State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of fifteen out of the sixteen commissioner-nominees submitted by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The confirmation took place during plenary on Tuesday after the Committee of the Whole House, chaired by Speaker Olamide Oladiji, presented its report. Lawmakers unanimously adopted the report through a voice vote.
However, the Assembly deferred the confirmation of one nominee, Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye from Ondo West Local Government, due to his absence. The Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read a letter from Olawoye requesting permission to be excused from the screening. The Speaker noted that a new date would be scheduled to consider his nomination.
Those confirmed by the House are Professor Igbekele Ajibefun, Ayodele Akande, Alabi Johnson, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu, Idowu Ajanaku, Dr Oluwaseun Abosede Osamaye, Dr Tob Loko, Olaolu Akindolire, Sunday Olajide, Omoyofunmi Segun Henry, Bola Ademuwagun, Leye Akinola, Dr Banji Ajaka, and Adesoji Afolabi.
The screening exercise was conducted by the Committee of the Whole House, which concluded its work last Friday.
In his remarks, Speaker Oladiji commended the nominees for their presentations during the screening and urged those confirmed to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering quality service to the state.
