Ondo Assembly workers halt planned strike

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Ondo State chapter, has suspended its planned strike following Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s intervention.
PASAN had issued a seven-day ultimatum demanding the implementation of the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS).
The association’s Chairperson, Mrs Hellen Olorunfemi, praised the governor for promptly approving their request, describing him as a responsive leader.
“We tabled our demands before the governor, and to the glory of God, he gave instant approval,” she said.
Olorunfemi noted that Ondo was the last South-West state to adopt CONLESS and appreciated Speaker Olamide Oladiji for his support.
She added that the Accountant-General’s office had begun implementing the directive, leading to the suspension of the strike.
Oladiji confirmed that discussions on legislative autonomy were ongoing and expressed optimism about progress soon.
