Ondo court arraigns 40-year-old for allegedly stealing three mobile phones

A 40-year-old man, Ayodeji Adetiloye, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing three mobile phones valued at N370,000.

Adetiloye was brought before Magistrate O.T. Lebi by the police on a one-count charge of stealing.

The police prosecutor, Augustine Omheneimhen, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on August 10, 2026, around 3:30pm along Stadium Road, Akure.

The prosecutor said the stolen items comprised an Itel Android phone worth N45,000, another Android phone valued at N150,000 and an iPhone X worth N175,000.

He said the alleged offence contravened Section 383 and was punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Adetiloye pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him, prompting his lawyer, O.C. Falana, to apply for bail on his behalf.

In his defense , Falana urged the court to release his client on bail on liberal terms, while the prosecutor did not oppose the application.

Ruling on the application, Magistrate Lebi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until September 8, 2026, for further hearing.
