Ondo court sentences killers of Fasoranti’s daughter to death

The Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, has sentenced three persons to death by hanging for the killing of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Reuben Fasoranti, three years after the murder. 

The accused  are; Mohammed Shehu Usman, Masagie Lawal, and Adamu Adamu

Four suspects; Usman, Lawal, Adamu and Auwalu Abubakar were arraigned for trial in the court.

However, the fourth suspect, Auwalu Abubakar, who was tried for aiding and abetting, was later  discharged and acquitted by the court.

They were on trial at the court on eight counts, bordering on conspiracy, kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and aiding and abetting.

Justice Williams Olamide of the State High Court, who delivered the judgement, on Friday, found the trio guilty after they conspired to commit armed robbery, and murder of Mrs. Olakunrin.
