The family of Oladunjoye Otele Ajiwoju, a farmer based in Ondo State, has petitioned the Ondo State Police Command over his alleged murder following the discovery of his corpse in a canal in Akungba-Akoko.
The petition, obtained by Western Post and dated May 14, 2026, was filed through a legal firm, Bayo Olorunmeke & Co., and addressed to the Commissioner of Police, urging a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the family, the deceased was last seen on May 6 after informing his mother that he was going to the farm with his cousin.
It was gathered that he later returned from the farm on the same day but left home again shortly afterwards, telling relatives he was going out to play, a journey from which he never returned.
A family representative, Dr Johnson Ajiwoju, said the initial assumption was that the farmer had travelled to his personal farm at Igboye Camp in Supare-Akoko until disturbing developments emerged.

He explained that the family became alarmed after seeing an online photograph of an unidentified body discovered in the Odeegbo canal, which they later identified as that of their relative.
“After carefully examining the picture, even though only the back view was visible, we discovered that it was Mr Oladunjoye Otele Ajiwoju who was murdered and dumped in the canal,” he said.
The family’s solicitors, while demanding justice, called on the police to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and prosecuted, saying, “We humbly urge your office to investigate this matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
