Ondo governor Aiyedatiwa approves bus gift for NUJ correspondents

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the donation of a brand new bus to the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo State Council, to strengthen media operations in the state.

The approval was announced on Saturday night at a Media Stakeholders’ Dinner held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Akure.

The decision followed an appeal by the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Tosin Ajuwon, who commended the governor for developmental projects driven by the administration’s OUR EASE Agenda across the state.

Ajuwon highlighted the transportation challenges faced by correspondents covering government activities across Ondo State, noting that members often travel long distances under difficult conditions.

Responding, Aiyedatiwa described the media as a strategic partner in governance, stressing that responsible journalism remains vital to democracy, transparency and accountability.

He said government policies and achievements could not reach the grassroots without the media, adding that journalists serve as a bridge between the government and the people.

“I have listened to your request. We have three buses; two have been given out, and the remaining one has my approval. This is our own way of supporting the media to do their job better,” Aiyedatiwa declared.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ondo State NUJ Council, Prince Leke Adegbite, praised the governor’s media-friendly disposition and drew attention to welfare challenges facing journalists in the state, particularly staff of Owena Press and the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
