Ondo govt appoints warrant chiefs, begins selection of new Olu-Oke

New Olu-Oke of Okeigbo in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government area of Ondo state may emerge soon as the state government has appointed warrant chiefs to begin the process of selection.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Comrade Bola Taiwo, gave the hint during a press conference after the State Executive Council meeting in Akure.
He said the development became necessary following a court judgment which nullified the appointment of the late Babajide Lawrence Oluwole before his demise.
Late Oba Babajide was the 17th ruler and the 6th Oluoke of Okeigbo Kingdom. He joined his ancestors in May 2023, as announced by the Isoros, led by Pakoyi (Baba Loja) of Okeigbo Kingdom, Chief Akinbobola Adedigbo
In June 2023, Princess Olusola Babajide was installed the new Regent of Okeigbo Kingdom, following the passage of her father, Oba (Dr) Lawrence Oluwole Babajide, Bamigbala I.
Meanwhile, the governor’s aide also disclosed that the Council approved a memorandum to change the title of the Yasere of Ilepete (Ugbo) chieftaincy to Yasere of Oriretan in Ilaje Local Government Area, following objections raised by key stakeholders in the community.
Taiwo reiterated that the Lucky Aiyedatiwa administration values traditional rulers as essential partners in governance, particularly because of their closeness to the grassroots.
