By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Ondo State Government has commenced a statewide verification exercise for pensioners who retired between 2016 and 2025.
The Permanent Secretary of the Pension Transitional Department, Chief Bunmi Alade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Akure. He stated that the exercise was designed to update pension records, eliminate ghost pensioners, and ensure prompt payment of entitlements.
Alade explained that all affected pensioners must present themselves at designated centres with necessary documents. These include a letter of retirement approval, payment voucher, Bank Verification Number (BVN), and pensioner’s identity card or any valid means of identification.
For deceased pensioners, next-of-kin or representatives are expected to provide a Letter of Administration and an Affidavit of Next of Kin.
According to the schedule, the exercise will be conducted in phases across the state. It will begin with Ilaje, Okitipupa, Irele, Ese-Odo, and Odigbo local government areas on September 2 and 3.
Pensioners in Ondo West, Ondo East, and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo will be verified on September 4 and 5, while those in Akoko North-East, Akoko North-West, Akoko South-East, and Akoko South-West are scheduled for September 8 and 9.
Those in Owo and Ose local government areas will undergo verification on September 10 and 11, followed by pensioners in Ifedore and Idanre on September 12.
The final phase will take place in Akure North and Akure South local government areas on September 15 and 16.
