Ondo govt reiterates call for installation of CCTV in public places

Ondo State government has reiterated that all public places in the state should install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) as soon as possible

The call had earlier been made by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, after the killing of many worshippers in Owo, on June 5 during a church service,

Speaking on Wednesday, during a training exercise organised for newly recruited officers, Commandant of the state security network, codenamed Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, said the time to do the installation of CCTV in public places is now. 

He said: “I want to appeal to members of the public that despite the harsh economic situation of the country, they should strive to adhere strictly to the deadline as given by the government. 

“All public places must have CCTV installed and these CCTV must be functional, so that when security agencies demands for it as the need arises, they will be able to give the recordings to them.” 

The commandant charged the newly recruited officers to make the safety of the citizens their priority against all odds and further urged them to uplift the agency and show deeper commitment towards ending crimes in the state.
