Ondo govt urges contractors to meet technical college deadlines

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Ondo State Government has directed contractors handling the rehabilitation and construction of technical colleges across the state to accelerate work and meet project completion deadlines.

The directive was issued by Hon. Tayo Oluyi, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Technical and Vocational Education, during a meeting with contractors in Akure.

Oluyi said the meeting was convened to review progress and provide guidance to ensure the projects are delivered on time.

He noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa considers technical education critical to industrial growth, adding that funds have been made available to make the colleges conducive to teaching and learning.

The SSA warned that contractors who fail to deliver as expected would face sanctions, stressing that most of the funds have already been disbursed and that no contractor would be owed upon completion.

He commended contractors who have completed their projects and those showing significant progress, while urging those with pending work to return to site immediately.

The state government, Oluyi added, would work with benefiting communities to ensure the smooth execution of the projects.

Project Supervisor Arch. Gbenga Onibudo urged contractors to deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe, while one of the contractors, Mr Yemi Dara, thanked the government for the meeting and pledged full cooperation moving forward.
