Police recover stolen Lexus vehicle in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Ondo State Police Command has recovered a Lexus ES350, which was earlier reported stolen in Warri, Delta State, and arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.

The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi Kazeem, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal.

The police revealed that the vehicle was intercepted in Akure during an intelligence-driven operation, supported by the Federal Road Safety Corps, when it was presented at the National Vehicle Identification Scheme office for document renewal.

According to the command, preliminary checks showed that the vehicle’s registration details were not captured on the NVIS portal, prompting further investigation by operatives.

The investigation revealed that the Lexus was forcefully stolen at gunpoint in Warri in February 2022, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Alawuye, 31, and Tosin, 32.

Police disclosed that the suspects have made useful statements that are aiding efforts to track down other members of the criminal network, while arrangements have been concluded with the Delta State Police Command to return the vehicle to its rightful owner.

The commissioner of police reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Ondo State and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support crime prevention efforts.
