Ondo monarch arrested over alleged abuse of minor

A traditional leader in Laagba, a community in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State, has been arrested by the police over allegations involving a 12-year-old girl.

The monarch, identified as Chief Adeniyi Ifedayo, is accused of luring the girl to his residence, where he allegedly held her for two weeks under suspicious circumstances.

Sources revealed that the girl was taken to the chief’s residence by a commercial motorcycle rider from the community.

It was gathered that the victim is currently receiving medical attention at a private facility in Ondo town.

Narrating her ordeal, the girl said she was kept in the house for two weeks with little food before the chief eventually took her to Akure, the state capital, and abandoned her at an undisclosed location.

The Area Commander of the Nigeria Police in Ondo, T.Y. Pickson, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, also confirmed the incident, adding that a thorough investigation is ongoing to uncover the full details of the case.
