Ondo monarch calls for vigilance after Ipele Police Station attack

The Olowo of Owo Kingdom and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, has urged residents of Ipele to remain alert following the attack on a police station in the community on New Year’s Eve.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Sam Adewale, the monarch described the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable, saying it was aimed at disturbing public peace during the festive period.

Oba Ogunoye noted that although the attack caused property damage, no lives were lost, describing the safety of residents and security personnel as a source of relief.

He sympathised with the traditional ruler of Ipele, the Nigeria Police Force, and members of the community, assuring them of his support during this challenging time.

The monarch called on residents to be security-conscious, urging them to promptly report suspicious activities or unusual movements to security agencies or community leaders.

According to him, effective collaboration between communities and security operatives remains vital to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He also offered prayers for the protection of residents and security personnel, expressing optimism that unity and vigilance would help sustain peace in Owo Local Government Area and Ondo State.
