The Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations has praised the Federal Government, Oyo State Government and security agencies following the successful rescue of pupils and teachers kidnapped in Oyo State after weeks in captivity.
In a statement issued on Friday, the chapter’s Chairman, Funmilayo Ikueduranni, and Secretary, Sunday Olusegun Omosule, described the development as a major relief to the victims’ families and a significant milestone in the nation’s efforts to tackle insecurity.
The institute also commended President Bola Tinubu, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and security operatives for their commitment and coordinated approach, which it said led to the safe return of the abducted victims.
It noted that the operation underscored government’s responsibility to safeguard lives and property, adding that the outcome would further strengthen public confidence in the country’s security institutions.
The NIPR stressed that sustained collaboration among governments, security agencies and citizens remained crucial to overcoming criminal activities, expressing optimism that continued commitment would improve the nation’s security situation.
In the same vein, the chapter called on Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to intensify ongoing measures to protect residents, saying the security of lives and property should remain at the centre of his administration’s priorities.
It further highlighted the importance of strategic communication in security management, noting that timely and transparent information sharing promotes public trust, encourages cooperation with security agencies and supports intelligence gathering.
The institute reaffirmed its commitment to advancing peace, responsible communication and national unity, while urging Nigerians to continue supporting government and security agencies in their collective efforts to achieve a safer country.
