Ondo PDP elects new chairman

…Gubernatorial candidate absent

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has elected Barrister Victor Modupe Aisida as its new State Chairman, marking a new phase of leadership for the party.

The elective congress, which was an affirmation exercise, was held yesterday in Akure and declared open by the outgoing caretaker chairman, Dr Bakita Bello.

However, the party’s 2024 governorship candidate in Ondo State, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, was absent from the congress.

With the new State Working Committee and Executive Committee affirmed, stakeholders described the exercise as a fresh start for the PDP in the state.

Aisida, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to restore unity, discipline, and strength to the party, while expressing gratitude to members for entrusting him with what he called the “sacred responsibility” of leadership.

Calling for peace and reconciliation, he urged members to put aside divisions and work together for electoral success.

In his welcome address, Bello described the congress as “a constitutional assignment and a defining moment for the party,” urging members to embrace cohesion and purposeful leadership.

Bello added, “At the end of this exercise, we will all be glad. It shall be a new beginning, a wonderful outing to lead us to victory in Ondo State.”
