Ondo PDP flag bearer withdraws appeal challenging Aiyedatiwa’s victory

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Former Ondo State Deputy Governor and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ajayi Alfred Agboola, has withdrawn his appeal challenging the outcome of the last governorship election in the state.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court dated September 16 and obtained by WESTERN POST, Agboola said the decision followed wide consultations with his family, party members, associates and legal advisers.

He explained that after careful deliberation, they reached a consensus that there was no need to pursue the case further.

“After careful deliberation, we have reached a consensus that the appeal should be withdrawn, and I’m doing so by this letter,” he wrote.

Agboola, who served as Deputy Governor under the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said his foremost commitment remained the promotion of good governance and peaceful coexistence in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

He also congratulated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, pledging his support for the administration’s efforts to advance the state’s development.

“In this spirit, I extend my heartfelt wishes to His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa as he leads our state, and I remain dedicated to contributing positively to the state and national development,” he added.

The PDP candidate urged the people of the state to work together for peace and progress, noting that his decision was borne out of a desire to prioritise stability and unity.
