The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old woman, Augustina Mowarin, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend, Michael Ikuedowoni, to death during a domestic dispute in Okitipupa.

According to sources, accusations of infidelity may have caused the altercation that led to the incident.

Confirming the arrest, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lawal Adebowale, told journalists in Akure over the weekend that the suspect was initially relocated to Irele Division from Okitipupa to prevent a possible mob attack.

Adebowale said the suspect was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Akure for thorough investigation and possible prosecution.

He said, “On 27th July 2025, a delayed-report murder involving one Michael Ikuedowoni (25), who was stabbed by his girlfriend Augustina Mowarin (24), came to light after his death at Omosanya Private Hospital. The incident reportedly occurred two weeks prior.

“The suspect was relocated to Irele Division to prevent mob action and is being transferred to SCID Akure for further investigation.”

However, the police said investigations are ongoing, adding that the suspect will be charged in court upon conclusion of the case.
