The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to a violent attack and cattle-rustling incident in Okeigbo, leading to the recovery of stolen cattle, weapons, and a getaway vehicle.
In a statement obtained by Western Post and signed by DSP Olusola Ayanlade, the command’s spokesperson, the police said the case was reported by one Abdullahi, who disclosed that armed men stormed his ranch in a “commando-like manner,” attacking him and his son with machetes while attempting to escape with the cattle.
Police operatives reportedly launched an intelligence-driven operation immediately, deploying technology and rapid tactical response to track the fleeing suspects.
According to the statement, the coordinated effort led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of the rustled cattle, a stolen motorcycle, and the vehicle used for the operation, which was traced to Ondo City.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the officers for their swift response, saying their action reflected the command’s improved capacity for proactive crime prevention.
He assured residents of sustained security throughout and beyond the festive season, directing all DPOs and tactical commanders to remain on high alert to maintain safety across the state.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
