Ondo Police warn against planned protest by Take It Back Movement

The Ondo State Police Command has issued a warning against a planned protest by the Take It Back Movement and its affiliates, scheduled to take place in the state.
In a press statement released on Monday, and signed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, the Command said it had received credible intelligence about the proposed protest and cautioned against any action that could destabilize the state.
While acknowledging citizens’ constitutional rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, the police described the timing of the protest as “highly inopportune,” citing current economic challenges and efforts to stabilize security across Ondo State.
The Command warned that such a gathering could be hijacked by criminal elements, potentially leading to a breakdown of law and order and reversing security gains achieved so far.
“We urge the leadership of the Take It Back Movement, their supporters, and other interest groups to return to the negotiating table and embrace constructive dialogue,” the statement said.
To forestall any breach of peace, CP Afolabi has directed Area Commanders, Tactical Team Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to intensify patrols and deploy personnel to identified public spaces and critical infrastructure.
The police urged the public to remain law-abiding and assured that measures are in place to maintain peace and order throughout the state.
