The Regent of Ayede Ogbese, Princess (Dr) Olufunto Oluyede-Campbell, has condemned the killing of a young businessman, Mr Okudili Okoro, and the abduction of Mrs Orogun.

WESTERN POST had reported the incident took place in the town on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

However, in a statement issued from the palace on Monday, the Regent described the incident as “heartrending and dastardly”, adding that the tragedy had thrown the entire community into mourning.

“We deeply regret the tragic murder of Mr Okudili Okoro and the abduction of Mrs Orogun. Our hearts are with the affected families and the good people of Ayede Ogbese during this painful period,” she said.

The Regent also disclosed that immediate contact was made with the Ondo State Commissioner of Police and the Commandant of the Amotekun Corps, which led to the deployment of security operatives to restore calm across the town.

“Reinforcements have been placed on the ground to protect lives and ensure peace across the town. I appeal to all citizens of Ayede Ogbese to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding,” Princess Oluyede-Campbell urged.

She assured residents that those responsible for the attack would not escape justice, while praying for the safe return of the abducted victim and eternal rest for the slain businessman.
