Encomiums poured in on Sunday as Olori Adejumoke Adeleye, wife of the Olubaka of Oka-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, was honoured with the Queen of the Year Award by Sunshine Standard Magazine.
The recognition was presented during a colourful ceremony at the OSDPC Multipurpose Hall, Ijapo, Akure, where dignitaries, traditional rulers and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the royal figure.
The organiser of the event, Mr Oludaisi Adetarami, said the award was in appreciation of the Olori’s humanitarian efforts, leadership qualities and commitment to community development, noting that her elegance and charitable initiatives distinguished her among royal personalities in the state.
Adetarami also highlighted her annual Christmas carol and children’s funfair, describing the initiative as one that has positively impacted vulnerable children and strengthened social bonds within Oka Kingdom.
The Olubaka of Oka Kingdom, Oba Yusuf Adebori Adeleye, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Chief Gbenga Omole, expressed appreciation to the organisers for recognising his wife’s contributions.
According to the monarch, the honour goes beyond personal recognition, adding that it symbolises a celebration of the culture, unity and aspirations of the people of Oka-Akoko.
Responding, Olori Adejumoke described the award as unexpected but deeply meaningful and dedicated it to her late father, Prince Benjamin Abiodun Daudu, whom she credited with instilling in her the values of compassion and service to humanity.
