Ondo’s steady progress rooted in faith, visionary leadership- Aiyedatiwa

Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has attributed the survival and steady progress of the state over the past five decades to divine guidance, the resilience of its people, and the central role of faith in governance.
He stated this on Sunday at the Ondo State Golden Jubilee Thanksgiving Service held at St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Isinkan, Akure, describing the celebration as a moment of gratitude, reflection, and fellowship.
According to the governor, the achievements recorded and challenges overcome by the state over the years bear the imprint of God’s grace. He recalled that Ondo State was created 50 years ago as a beacon of governance, unity, and opportunity, founded on principles of human dignity and communal solidarity.

Aiyedatiwa said the state’s progress had been driven not only by the hard work of its people but also by steadfast reliance on divine guidance, stressing that faith has inspired courage, illuminated wisdom, and anchored leadership and community life.
He acknowledged the role of the Church in shaping moral values, strengthening social cohesion, and promoting civic responsibility, noting that its teachings and counsel have reinforced the ethical foundation of governance in the state.
The governor also commended the people of Ondo State for their resilience and dedication, as well as past and present leaders for their vision and commitment to development.

He said the thanksgiving service provided an opportunity to recommit to responsible stewardship, pledging his administration’s continued focus on inclusive growth, youth empowerment, institutional strengthening, transparency, and sustainable development.
In his sermon, the Bishop of Akure Diocese and Archbishop of Ondo and Ekiti Province, Most Rev. Simeon Borokini, urged leaders and citizens to uphold integrity, discipline, and moral values, emphasising that the 50th anniversary is a shared milestone that calls for wisdom in leadership and innovation among the people.
