One dead as speeding car hits truck in Soka, Ibadan

By Adejayan Gbenga –

A fatal accident claimed the life of a man on Tuesday around the Soka area of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

The crash, which involved a Toyota Camry, occurred at the same spot where more than five people died in a separate accident just days ago.

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rosemary Alo, said the accident involved a Toyota Camry with number plate Lagos KRD 955 GJ and a commercial truck with an unknown registration number.

Alo explained that the driver of the Camry was speeding when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a stationary truck parked off the road at Soka.

“The only occupant of the vehicle died on the spot. Passersby alerted the Sanyo Police Station, and the corpse was evacuated to the Adeoyo Hospital morgue by police officers. The damaged vehicle was also towed to the station,” she said.

The sector commander advised motorists to avoid speeding and drive with caution, stressing that most road accidents are preventable with responsible driving.
