One reportedly dead, several injured in Abia road accident 

One person was confirmed dead when operatives of the Abia State combined security agencies nicknamed Operation Crush, were involved in an accident. 

According to report by The Nation, the accident occurred at Ihie Ibeku along the Bende Road in Umuahia, the state capital, leaving one of the operatives dead and several  team members injured.

The incident, which happened on Sunday evening, left three security personnel reportedly missing while rescue efforts continue at the crash scene.

It was reported that the vehicle carrying the operatives veered off the road and plunged into a deep ditch, apparently as the driver lost control while on motion.

The road, known for its narrow and challenging topography, is part of the federal highway linking the state capital to Bende to Ohafia, Arochukwu and other parts of the State.

Six operatives have been rescued and taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia for urgent medical attention while one NSCDC officer has been confirmed dead.
