OPEC Chief, Barkindo optimistic on global energy, ends visit to Venezuela

Secretary General of Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo has ended his 7-day visit to Venezuela where he discussed global energy challenges with the President of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro.

The world has been going through energy crisis with price of oil over $100 per barrel on the account of the Russia-Ukraine war. The astronomical rise in price of gas has put inflation in Europe, America and North America to all time high.

Citizens of oil producing countries are experiencing high cost of commodities and inflation as a result of the jump in the price of oil.

It is expected that Venezuela and Iran can meet the supply gap in the global energy supply following slew of sanctions on Russia by the United States and its European allies.

Rounding off his seven-day official visit to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on the invitation of President Nicolas Maduro, Global Energy Industry leader, Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo on Thursday had a bilateral meeting with President Maduro.

The engagement centered on, among others, the international energy market particularly the supply and demand dynamics of the oil market.

After their bilateral meeting, President Maduro decorated and congratulated the OPEC Chief Scribe on his numerous quality achievements in OPEC and wished him well as he exits the organisation after a six-year double tenure.

Barkindo has already left Caracas for Vienna where he is serving his last few months in office.
