Oro community hosts Lai Mohammed July 22 after eight years in office

The Oro community will on July 22, 2023, host a grand reception in honour of the immediate past Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Olayiwola Mohammed.

The event is billed to take place at Oro in lrepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to a statement by the National President of Oro Community, Prof. James Bojuwoye, the reception is being organized to appreciate the ex-minister for serving the nation diligently for eight years and his immense contributions to the advancement of Oro, its people and its environs.

Bojuwoye, a professor of medicine, described Alhaji Lai Mohammed as a son who made his community proud as one of the standout ministers under the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The national president listed the 80-bed mother and child hospital, extensive repair of roads network, provision of solar lights, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) substation, ICT lab at Oro Grammar School and drilling of boreholes as some of the projects facilitated by the ex-minister to Oro.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Homecoming Reception Committee, Mr Tunde Adeboye, has assured that his team has put all plans in place to ensure a hitch-free event.

According to him, some of the activities lined up for the event are; a cultural display by the youth, goodwill messages and the presentation of gifts to the ex-minister.

Some of the dignitaries that will grace the event are the Traditional Council of Chiefs from Oro and Esie, members of the national executives of Oro community, Oro women and youths wings, Oro community zonal executives, the leadership of Oro Legacy Consultative Forum (OLCOF), family, friends and associates of Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
