Oshiomhole declares interest in Edo North senatorial district seat

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole has signified his intention to run for the Edo North Senatorial District seat.
The former Edo State governor stated this during the celebration of his 70th birthday on Monday.
He said the reason he didn’t contest before now was that he needed to ensure that APC was “fixed”
He, however, said with Senator Abdullahi Adamu elected as the new national chairman of the party, it was time to lead the people of Edo North in the senate in 2023.
“Many of my people asked me why I did not want to contest for the Senate. I said APC had a crisis, which must first be fixed. You cannot discuss what kind of baby you are going to have when you are not married. I said until APC is fixed, you cannot talk of contesting election, using the platform.
“I have been chairman of the party (APC). I know the danger we faced if we were not able to fix the party. This was completed and consummated on March 25, 2022. We have now elected a brand new National Working Committee (NWC) and a brand new National Executive Council (NEC) under the able leadership of a former governor, a former minister and a current senator, Adamu Abdullahi.
“We have done what we need to do. I am inspired by the position of the new leadership for us to do what we need to do to retain power in 2023. I am convinced that this is the time to proceed to the next step of the conversation, which is about who leads the great people of Edo North Senatorial District in the Senate by 2023,” Oshiomhole said.
