Osinbajo flags off new organisation with focus on youth education

Former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Friday, flagged off a new organization called “Future Perspectives,” co-founded by him and other partners.
In a virtual interactive dialogue titled “EdTech for Transforming Education in Nigeria” to launch the organisation, Prof. Osinbajo emphasized the pivotal role of education in tackling the various challenges faced by developing countries.
The collaboration between Future Perspectives and UNESCO International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (IESALC) aims to empower young people with essential skills for transformative education.
The dialogue featured a panel discussion with six youth education innovators and stakeholders, who shared insights into the challenges within the Nigerian educational ecosystem and the solutions they’ve implemented to scale up their innovations.
Among the panellists at the virtual dialogue were Rachel Onoja, Head of Operations at AltSchool Africa and TalentQL; Afeez Saka, Founder of Community Tech Lab; Victoria Ibiwoye, Founder of One African Child Foundation; Oluwaseun Kayode, Founder/CEO of Schoolinka; Joy Ogbonna, Founder of Kareer Day; and Julius Ilori, Founder of Learner’s Corner.
Additionally, guest speakers who provided their own insights included Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, immediate past Commissioner of Education in Lagos State; Lanre Ogundipe, CEO of Imperial EdTech; Oyedayo Otokiti, CIO of Lagos Business School; Karimot Odebode, Founder of Black Girl’s Dream Initiative; and Rasheedat Sadiq, 1MT (3rd DAN).
The virtual dialogue also witnessed the participation of representatives from UNESCO IESALC, such as Ms. Bosen Lily Liu (Lead on Young People Transforming Education, UNESCO/IESALC), and Ms. Giulia Ribeiro Barao, alongside other education stakeholders, tech advocates, members of the diplomatic community, and the Executive Director of Future Perspectives, Mrs. Abby Asekun, who gave the opening remarks.
The event was moderated by Olanrewaju Oniyitan, whose foundation focuses on providing holistic solutions for quality education to schools serving children from low-income families.
With Future Perspectives’ launch and partnership with UNESCO, it aims to pave the way for a brighter future by equipping young minds with the education and skills necessary to address the pressing challenges of developing countries.
