Osinbajo to meet Vietnam President, Prime Minister to improve economic relations with Nigeria

Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday departed Abuja on official trip to Vietnam where he hopes to improve economic ties with the Asian country.

While in Vietnam, Osinbajo will meet with Vietnamese President, Vice President and Prime Minister among other senior officials and business leaders.

Current trade between Nigeria and Vietnam is put at $500million annually by 2019 official records and the Federal Government wants to increase that as Nigeria seeks more non-oil revenue.

Writing on his social media page on Saturday on the trip, Osinbajo wrote:

“I depart Abuja today for the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to kick off a four-day visit to the Southeast Asian nation. During my visit, I will meet with the President of Vietnam, President Nguyễn Xuân Phúc; Vice President Vo Thi Aah Xuan, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, other government officials and the business community.

“Nigeria and Vietnam are good trading partners, with over $500 million in trade between our countries as at 2019. However, as with anything, our relationship can be improved upon. This visit serves to bolster our relationship, thereby creating more opportunities to do business together, and share our cultures.”
