By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo
Muslim faithful in Osogbo and surrounding areas will gather on Sunday, August 17, 2024, at the Osogbo Eid praying ground to hold intercessory prayers for rain, addressing the ongoing drought in Osun State.
In a statement, the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Shaykh Musa Animasahun, called on Muslims from all associations to participate in the special prayer, seeking Allah’s mercy for beneficial rain and peace in the region.
The prayer session, scheduled for 8 a.m. at the new Eid ground on Ibokun Road, will focus on invoking divine intervention for rain and peace in Osogbo and its environs.
Shaykh Animasahun extended the invitation to all leading Imams, their congregations, Ratibi Imams, Madrasat, Alasalatu, Saidas, Tijaniyat, Qadiriyat, MSS, Jamaat Ahlu Sunnah, and all Muslims in Osogbo land to join in this crucial supplication.
This spiritual gathering comes as Osun State grapples with severe challenges brought on by irregular rainfall, climate change, and other factors disrupting the 2024 planting season.
Farmers in the region have reported significant losses due to inadequate water supply, which has severely impacted their ability to achieve a successful harvest. Many crops remain stunted, with some failing to produce seeds.
