Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, says the All Progressives Congress no longer exists in Osun State, but only by name.

He said this when he officially declared for the Labour Party on Thursday.

WesternPost had reported that the former legislator who contested the APC governorship primaries with Governor Gboyega Oyetola dumped the party on the eve of its national convention last month.

After his defection to the LP, the party held a primary election, where the party members affirmed him as their flagbearer for the July 16, 2022 governorship election in the state.

His running mate is Adeola Adekunle Atanda.

The LP governorship candidate noted that no government anywhere can provide jobs for every citizens saying that agricultural practices would be encouraged in full scale for the development of the state economy if he becomes the governor.

“Those that said my impact will not be felt in APC are living in mirage because I have been in active politics since 1983. I have contested for election on several occasions especially the election as a federal lawmaker which I contested in 2007 and became one of the longest election tribunal cases in Nigeria which lasted for over 3 years. I later became the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“If I emerge victorious, my administration will focus on subsidizing education, farming, infrastructure, health and exploitation of mineral resources for the citizens,” he said.

Yusuf then commended the leadership of LP for giving him the opportunity to pick the ticket assuring them that his government will be an inclusive one.

“I want to urge our party members to work for my victory because power is not share freely, I want members to go back to our units and start the work. What I need from you is ability to deliver between 100 and 120 votes in each unit across the state to win the seat. Osun is made up of 3010 units with average of 100 voters in all.”

The ex-deputy speaker who expressed confidence that he would win the governorship election come July 16  cautioned stakeholders in politics who planned to rig during the gubernatorial election to desist from such.
