Osun 2026: Adedamola clinches PDP governorship ticket

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Osun 2026 governorship election, securing 919 votes out of the 957 votes cast, according to the chairman of the primary, Humphrey Abba.

The primaries were held at the Adolak Event Centre, Osogbo, under tight security. The Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Department of State Service (DSS) were present, while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also monitored the exercise.

Adedamola defeated current Governor Ademola Adeleke, who had withdrawn his membership from the PDP prior to the primaries.

In a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the chairman of PDP Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Ede, Adeleke cited the ongoing national leadership crisis within the party as the reason for his withdrawal.
