The Alubarika Movement, an interest group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has urged the party’s leadership to avoid sentimental and parochial considerations when selecting its standard-bearer for the 2026 governorship election.

In a communiqué issued after a meeting held at the Law Office of Honourable Adegboye Akintunde in Osogbo, the group commended the party’s leadership for nurturing the APC to its current status.

However, they cautioned against externalizing internal party matters and engaging in sensational social media disputes, warning that such actions could jeopardize the party’s unity.

“We appeal to our leaders to caution some segments of our party against externalizing internal issues and engaging in sensational social media disputes, as these actions are capable of creating divisions within the party,” the communiqué stated.

The group emphasized the need to adhere to the party’s guiding principles and prioritize the selection of candidates with proven integrity.

Encouraging party members to abide by the party’s constitution, rules, and guidelines, the group stressed that these regulations are binding on all members.

“Our focus as a party is to secure victory in the 2026 governorship election in Osun State. Therefore, considerations for the party’s standard-bearer should be based on proven integrity, respect for and adherence to the party’s constitution, loyalty, and widespread acceptance, among other critical qualities,” the communiqué read.

The group also expressed appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership at the national level, praying for divine guidance as he steers the country toward progress.

“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his courage, boldness, and maturity in leading the nation. We also pray for God’s guidance as he works to elevate the country. Similarly, we hope and pray that our party’s leadership in Osun will manage the selection process effectively to produce the best candidate for the 2026 election.”

The communiqué was signed by the Alubarika Movement Chairman, Alhaji Kehinde Olamolu, alongside Honourable Kehinde Lawal (Isokan), Honourable Fafowora Folarin Akinyemi (Ilesa West), Honourable Dixon Abiodun (Area Office), Architect Banji Ibiyemi (Irepodun), and Honourable Ezekiel Dibu Adeyemi (Iwo).
