Osun 2026: Ejigbo monarch endorses Adeleke, cites infrastructure projects

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, has declared support for Governor Ademola Adeleke, citing the administration’s execution of road projects that had long been a source of concern for Ejigbo and neighbouring communities.

The monarch made the declaration during the inauguration of road projects in Ejigbo on Thursday, saying, “With what Adeleke has done, I want to tell my subjects, I know that you always hear me and understand my language. I want to tell you that we are going to cast all our votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke.”

Governor Adeleke thanked the royal fathers for their support, saying those who doubted his administration’s ability to deliver had been proved wrong.

He reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling all the promises he made to the Ogiyan and assured the monarch that he would return to commission the Ejigbo-Iwo Road upon its completion.

“I want to commend the royal fathers for your support. I remember all my promises to the Ogiyan, and I will fulfil them by the grace of God. I want to assure you, my father, the Ogiyan, that you will commission the Ejigbo-Iwo Road once it is completed. I love you all, and I thank you for your support,” Adeleke said.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Bashir Bello, said the Ejigbo-Iwo Road is a 33-kilometre intercity road linking more than seven communities, including Ejigbo, Ilawo, Iwata, Ijimoba, Alagba, Iwo-Oke, Ibarapa, Amere and Iwo.

He explained that the reconstruction of the road was divided into two 6-kilometre segments awarded to De-Log Construction Company Limited and Time Building and Construction Limited, both of which are ready for commissioning.

Bello added that the 10.7-kilometre Ejigbo–Isoko–Aiye Oguro–Oyo State Road has also been approved and will be executed in two phases for speedy completion. He further noted that the Adeleke administration had reconstructed the 4-kilometre Ejigbo–Ika-Orangun and Gaa-Gbonka roads.
