Osun 2026: Ogunbiyi faults Adeleke’s leadership style, to declare governorship bid

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, is set to officially declare his ambition on Thursday, while criticizing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s governance.
In a statement issued by his media team, Ogunbiyi accused Governor Adeleke of turning the state into a family enterprise and hijacking the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from its founding fathers.
He also faulted the governor for allegedly crippling local government administration by disobeying a court ruling that ordered the reinstatement of elected APC chairmen and councillors.
Describing Adeleke’s actions as undemocratic and insensitive, Ogunbiyi urged the Federal Government to intervene and ensure compliance with the court’s decision in the interest of peace and democracy.
Ogunbiyi stated that his ambition is driven by a commitment to restore democratic values, promote inclusive governance, and make government institutions more responsive to the people.
“Since the enthronement of democracy in 1999, we have not witnessed such brazen disregard for the rule of law as demonstrated by Governor Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke,” the statement read. “Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi is committed to ending ineptitude and restoring democratic sanctity in Osun State.”
The declaration event is scheduled to hold at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo and will feature interactive sessions where party members and supporters can engage with the aspirant.
