Osun 2026: Oyebamiji’s emergence signals APC victory, says Oyintiloye

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has described the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election as a clear signal of victory for the party.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye said Oyebamiji’s emergence through a consensus arrangement should be credited to the party’s leadership, members and, in particular, the aspirants who willingly stepped down in the interest of unity.

According to him, the process reflects the maturity, discipline and character for which the APC is known.

“With Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate and the APC’s impending victory at the polls, the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be seamlessly translated into good governance in Osun State,” he said.

Oyintiloye stressed that having successfully concluded the primary election, the party’s focus should now shift to the main poll.

“Oyebamiji as our candidate is a step in the right direction towards the victory awaiting the APC. However, we must work hard as a united family with a common purpose to secure that victory,” he added.

The former lawmaker recalled that some critics had predicted an implosion within the party due to the large number of aspirants who initially sought the APC ticket. He noted, however, that the timely intervention of party leaders ensured a smooth and peaceful process.

Oyintiloye commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Chief Bisi Akande, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and other party leaders for their guidance and commitment to the success of the Osun APC primary.

He also urged the state APC leadership to continue strengthening the party’s structure to ensure a less stressful victory at the governorship election.

Oyintiloye expressed confidence that, if elected, Oyebamiji would lead a people-oriented administration focused on implementing policies and programmes that would positively impact the lives of Osun residents.

He concluded by calling on party members across the state to redouble their efforts and remain united in the task of returning the APC to power in Osun State.
