Osun APC accuses Adeleke of insincerity over teachers’ recruitment

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of insincerity over plans to recruit teachers into public schools, three years into his administration.

In a statement signed by the APC’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party described the government’s claims as gibberish, stating that there is nothing to suggest the governor’s commitment to replacing the 1,500 teachers recruited by his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola.

The party also condemned the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, for allegedly spreading falsehoods on radio and television to defend the government’s position.

According to Olabisi, “There is nothing to justify the constant appearance of the state Commissioner for Information, Mr Kolapo Alimi, on both radio and television, reeling out falsehoods aimed at misinforming the people of the state, which has become his hallmark, other than deliberately heaping insult on the sensibilities of the people of the state.”

“How on earth would a state commissioner for information come on air to defend government policy on the recruitment of teachers without sufficiently arming himself with the number of teachers the government intends to engage, if not that he was out to spew falsehood and subterfuge?” he queried.

The APC also challenged the governor’s explanation that local government funding constraints were responsible for the delay, noting that local governments are constitutionally independent.

Olabisi accused the Adeleke government of owing local councils ₦88 billion, allegedly being refunds of amounts collected from local government allocations.

He described Adeleke’s approach to governance as kick-and-start and driven by impulse rather than planning, adding that the people of Osun would witness a restoration of the state’s lost glory on 8 August 2026, when the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, emerges.
