Osun APC accuses Gov Adeleke of misleading public on Appeal Court judgment

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for allegedly misleading the public about the Appeal Court judgment delivered on February 10, 2025.
The APC Chairman in Osun, Tajudeen Lawal, while addressing journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, stated that rather than stoking sentiments and seeking undue public sympathy, the Governor should comply with the court order and provide protection to the reinstated council chairmen and councillors.
He noted that the APC has been seeking legal means to ensure the law takes its due course, and it is now time for the Governor to do the same.
Lawal said, “Rather than stoking a crisis in the state, the most honorable thing for Governor Ademola Adeleke to do is comply with the court order and provide protection to the reinstated council chairmen and councillors.
“This is not the time to stir up sentiments and seek undue public sympathy, as the matter is constitutional and unassailable. Laws are not built on sentiment but rather on facts. As a responsible party, we have been civil and law-abiding, which is why we have been seeking every legal means to ensure that the law takes its due course.”
Also speaking, the APC Legal Adviser, Chief Adegoke Ogunsola, emphasized that the Appeal Court’s judgment is clear and unambiguous, and the Governor’s refusal to comply is a deliberate attempt to avoid enforcement.
He said, “The Governor unsuccessfully attempted to twist the express language of the judgment when he erroneously assumed the duty of the judiciary in interpreting the law.
“The members of the public are hereby advised to ignore the misrepresentation of facts that the Governor is attempting to create with his petty actions.”
He called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to ensure that the misleading information released by the government does not degenerate into a crisis, as such misinformation is capable of inciting unrest.
