Osun APC accuses PDP of plotting violence in LGAs

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the state government and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plotting to recruit armed thugs to unleash violence on reinstated local government officials and party members.
In a petition dated June 16, 2025, addressed to the Commissioner of Police and copied to the Department of State Services (DSS), the APC alleged that plans had been finalized by PDP figures to destabilize the local government system through orchestrated attacks.
The petition, signed by the APC State Legal Adviser, Chief Adegoke Ogunsola, named the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi; OSSIEC Chairman, Hassim Abioye; Governor’s Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed; and PDP State Chairman, Sunday Bisi, as those allegedly involved.
The APC claimed the named individuals were mobilizing to recruit thugs to attack local government officials reinstated by the Court of Appeal after their earlier removal by Governor Ademola Adeleke through an executive order.
The party urged security agencies to take note of the alleged incitement and intervene to prevent violence. It specifically called on the police and DSS to investigate the matter and protect the reinstated officials.
The APC recalled a similar incident on February 17, 2025, where hoodlums allegedly sponsored by PDP operatives attacked its members, resulting in the death of Hon. Remi Abass, former Chairman of Irewole Local Government.
It also warned that failure to address the situation could lead to further unrest and breakdown of law and order in the state.
The PDP, however, denied the allegations and instead accused the APC of being the true instigators of violence in the state.
